What To Wear: Summer Weddings
Ahh, summer wedding season is upon us. No doubt, your mailbox has been filled with invites that read a bit like this:
“The pleasure of your company is requested at the marriage of Crystal Zampino* to Nicholas Coons* Saturday, the eighth of August two thousand and fifteen at half-past four in the afternoon.”
*Okay, truth time: that’s my maiden name, and that’s my husband’s name!
Followed by something that looks like this:
“Dress Code: Garden Party Chic”
“Dress Code: Cocktail Attire”
“Dress Code: Semi-Formal”
It can be a bit overwhelming! Thankfully, I’ve found not only one, but three gorgeous maxi dresses to fit each one of those dress codes at City Chic.
Let’s start with the Garden Party Chic dress code. A dreamy, watercolor floral maxi is the perfect option for this (typically) outdoor wedding. I went with a barely-there holographic sandal and a white scalloped edge clutch to play up the garden theme. Add a hint of bohemian glamour by placing a floral headpiece in your hair.
Next, Cocktail Attire. This means not too fancy, but definitely dressy. I love this gorgeous cobalt blue maxi for an evening wedding. The color is punchy without being show-stealing (let’s not upstage the bride!) and classy without being too stuffy. Add a hint of edge with black and silver accessories.
My personal favorite is semi-formal and formal attire. This ombre maxi is heavenly and absolutely perfect for the fanciest of weddings. Go with a sweet and classic updo (I chose a side-low-bun) to keep the look sleek and sophisticated. For this formal look, I took the dress to the next level by removing the belt that comes with it and adding the Embellishment Belt to add an undeniable hint of glamour. Pop on a bold red lip and you’re good to go.
I’ve collaborated with resident City Chic makeup guru, Marisa (who also happens to totally be my soul sister <3 ), for a special wedding guest look for you! She’s crafted a beautiful look that works perfectly with all of the outfits in this post. The smoky eye is sultry but daytime appropriate, and the nude lip is universally flattering. Check out the step-by-step guide to getting this gorgeous look. I know I’m going to be trying this out ASAP.
