The athletic trend continues into 2015, and I couldn’t be happier. While my go-to weekend look consists of casual jeans and sweaters, joggers force me to try something new. How to take the super casual garment and make it chic? I decided to go for classic black – in the shirt I wore (which is my favorite shirt of all time, and it breaks my heart that Halogen doesn’t make it anymore) and the heels and bag I paired them with. I grabbed my blue mirrored Ray Ban Flash Aviators, and we set out to explore Flagstaff. Flagstaff is a charming little sleepy town up in Northern Arizona. It’s home to NAU and Snowbowl ski resort (one of the oldest ski resorts in the country, opened in 1938). The downtown area is right off of Route 66 and is filled with winks and hints to old Americana.
If you’re in Flagstaff, here’s a quick itinerary: Start your day with a delicious breakfast from Wildflower Bread Company at Aspen Place. Then, head on up to Snowbowl for a morning of skiing and playing in the snow. By mid-afternoon, head back into town and park off of Route 66. You’ll find plenty of restaurants to satisfy your cravings in the Historic Downtown District. Try the burgers at Diablo Burger or the healthier fare at the Pita Pit. After you’ve refueled, head back to your hotel to relax and change into something a bit more evening appropriate. As the sun sets, pop over to Rendezvous at the Monte Vista Hotel for a cup of tea, or if you’re so inclined, a pre-dinner cocktail. Rendezvous is one of our favorite places to hang out and people watch. Drive over to Fat Olives for dinner – our favorite restaurant in the entire city. Try the roasted olives, bruschetta (sub in the Stracciatella – you won’t regret trying their house-made cheese!) and the pizza. End your day in the best way possible – by heading up to Lowell’s Observatory for some star gazing. Lowell’s is world famous – it’s the Observatory where they discovered Pluto!
