Pairings: Distressed Denim
I am so thrilled to bring you a new series, called Pairings. What is ‘Pairings’? Think of it as ‘what to wear’ style inspiration; one item worn multiple ways.
Today’s first task is taking a pair of ripped jeans from a casual day to an evening out with a simple change. Even more exciting is that the tops paired with these looks are made by my new friend, Sharlene, who owns A’Doreus. She was recently named San Diego’s Designer of the Year – the only plus designer in an entire production filled with straight size lines! You’ll get to know her better on Friday.
Ripped jeans can be a tough one to pair – because the initial inclination would be to wear them in a grungy manner. I attempted to take this fabulous pair from Torrid and not only keep the looks ladylike, but also easily taken from day to night. Start with your jeans, pair them with your comfortable heels, and let’s get started!
My first look, I paired the jeans with a gorgeous black lace crop top with gold detailing. I love this look for grabbing tea with friends! It’s easy, breezy and comfortable.
Let’s pretend on this perfect day, you spend the afternoon having tea (and maybe even a macaron or two!) with your bestie. But oh no! You have a date with your beau… and don’t have time to go home! Plan ahead and bring a fancy peplum top with you and voila! Date night ready.
Pull on that fancy peplum, tszuj your hair a bit and get ready to meet your date. This look would also be great for your bestie’s birthday party, going out dancing or a Beyonce concert!
