We’re in the midst of holiday season – and it occurred to me – I didn’t get a look out for my boss babes working in offices! Definitely my bad – but no fear, LOFT to the rescue. They reached out and asked me to pick some gorgeous items from their most recent plus launch and when I saw this adorable polka dot sweater, I was sold! For your office parties, pair a fun festive sweater with your favorite work trousers to elevate it all. I also grabbed a sparkly pair of gold heels t
Today is my birthday. And, as I think most people do, I spent it reflecting on the past year. Last year was a challenging one, with highs and lows. I lost people I loved very much. I grew my business and was able to achieve a lot of goals I had for myself. I traveled a lot more and learned so much. The absolute highlight, though, was being selected by Vanity Fair for this amazing campaign, #WomenWhoDo. Today’s blog post isn’t about the past, however. It’s about the future. I
So much of my life is spent on the road- and on a recent work trip to San Francisco, I was inspired to create a lookbook for you that was made for the girlbosses out there. You girls who are working their way to the corner office, traveling to conferences, shmoozing the clients. I put together a 3 outfit plus size work lookbook to take you from those daylong conferences and meetings, to happy hour with the boss and clients and then finally a bonus outfit for your personal day
Since playing with that gorgeous white plus size bodycon a few weeks ago, I have become obsessed with white. I’ve been trying on just about everything white dress I can get my hands on in as many different styles as possible. This one, in particular with it’s moto detailing, is so different and full of attitude. Add in the fact that it’s from Fashion To Figure – an exceptionally affordable brand – snagging it up was a no brainer. dress c/o fashion to figure | heels via vince
I grew up listening to Tony Bennett. Hearing him croon ‘I left my Heart in San Francisco’ over and over again is probably the reason that I have such an obsession with the city. I absolutely have left my heart in San Fran and will take any chance to go visit it. What made this trip especially wonderful was the company. When the team at Catherine’s reached out to me to meet them up in the Bay for a day of sightseeing and photos, I couldn’t say no. Add in the fact that the shoo
I seem to be in a rebellious mood lately – because just like last Friday, this Friday, I’m busting up another fat girl fashion myth: “fat girls can’t wear stripes.” The theory behind the rule is that horizontal stripes add width and bulk to the body – but that simply isn’t true. I’ve worn stripes here on the blog many times (so you know how I feel about that ‘rule’) but this dress from Eloquii takes them to a whole new level. Ill fitting garments can certainly add bulk to th
The most feared animal in the fashion jungle is without a doubt, the Jean. Just mention the notion of going jean shopping and even the most fearless among us lets out a bloodcurdling scream and, with a shaky hand, reaches for a glass of wine. The struggle is real. That’s why I take my job as a blogger so seriously: to do the work for you and tell you as much as I can about fit, quality and style so you can shop easier. As a denim enthusiast, I am so excited to tell you about
It’s fall somewhere!
As I’m sure you come here for a weather update (and not just for fashion… right?) I thought you would like to know that it was 95 degrees when I shot this look.
But I couldn’t wait any longer to share this look. I love it for a work-to-cocktails situation. For work, pair this GORGEOUS Nic+Zoe dress with some opaque tights and sensible heels (esp depending on your work environment) – but as soon as the clock strikes 5:01PM, throw on these se
If fashion were food, I believe black would be it’s own food group. And the more into fall we go, the more I allow myself to indulge in all black looks. Instead of showing you all a photoset with street style appeal, this one is for you working ladies who are making waves at the office, on your way to becoming Senior Vice President. Black is a power color, no matter how you slice it.
I love this look for a few reasons: First, it’s office appropriate no matter what your indus
I have a confession to make. I’ve been wearing these Rockit pants a lot… way more than is socially acceptable. I said that in the most politically correct way possible. What I’m actually saying is: I’m so obsessed with these pants, I’ve worn them nearly every day since they turned up on my doorstep. They’re right up my alley: a perfect blend of edgy and feminine. In case the idea of a leather-like pant is a bit intimidating, allow me to show you three fab ways to wear them… n
To say I’ve had a trying week would be putting it mildly. Between being sick and dealing with some family issues, I’ve been so thankful for shooting and writing for the blog to be a reprieve from everything that’s been going on. Shooting this look was a reminder of the sheer power of fashion. I hadn’t left the couch in days – but as soon as I forced myself to get ready and put on this dress – I instantly felt better. Powerful, almost. The draping and color walk the line betwe
When I was asked to participate on a panel at my local FGI chapter, my brain immediately turned to what I would wear. I admit, not exactly the most responsible reaction when you’re being asked to speak on the business of fashion in front of a crowd.
But, hey. We are who we are, n’est-ce pas?
I looked for weeks and couldn’t quite find the right outfit. I wanted something that felt strong, but still modern. Feminine, but it had to command attention.
It was on a snowy winter
When you’re on a budget, finding pieces that can do double – or triple – duty can be some of the best to splurge on. I ordered this skirt not realizing the potential it had. The draped sides and unique pattern drew my eyes, but once I got it home and started playing with it, I began to see the possibilities. The first look is the skirt as designed – untucked, beautiful draping. Then, I tucked in both of the draped sides, crossing them over each other and – ta da! Pencil skirt
Aaanndddd… my love affair with Eloquii continues!
This dress is perfect for the office. Typically, it’s said that plus size women shouldn’t wear stripes… well, anyone that knows me know I not only love stripes, I live in them! This black and tan striped number is a perfect for fall, making it less painful to leave my navy & white nautical inspired stripes behind.
I paired it with my favorite black Coach trench coat, for an “on my way somewhere super important” look with the
