One of the best things about my job is the ability to travel and work from anywhere. Husband and I like to call it “working free” – free from a desk, free from a set schedule, and free from a specific location. Being self employed often means working longer hours than a standard 40-hour work week, but with incredible views it’s easy to get lost in your projects and surroundings. The views also provide endless inspiration for outfits – and this suit is no exception. It’s incre

Hawaii was nothing short of mind-blowing, different every single day. The more I explored, the more I discovered: new people, new climates, new scenery… and by far and away the rainforest/jungle part of the island was my absolute favorite. There’s just something about dense trees and tropical leaves that leaves me excited to see what’s hiding. During my two week stay in Hawaii, the sun came out about three days (super unusual for them!) so it made for tons of moody photos – a

Byron Bay has to be one of the most unique places I’ve ever traveled to. It’s a Bohemian mecca of fresh faced women on floaty dress, surfer boys in board shorts and sea-salt filled hair. Needless to say, I embraced the minimalistic beauty look and kept my makeup to a minimum. Armed with an arsenal of Glossier products, I proudly wore a nearly-nude face with a touch of gloss, slightly combed brows and a light sheen on my cheekbones. But, you can take the girl out of LA, but yo

Experiencing a full fall season is something I’ve missed since moving to Phoenix all those years ago. It seems like another lifetime when I would ride my bike through the woods, crushing fallen leaves with the wheels of my two-speed, laughing with my friends. Lately, fall days are roughly 89 degrees and full of sunshine. I know. That’s summer, not fall. Tell me about it. #burningup On the bright side, just a two hour drive up I-17 is my favorite getaway, the city of Sedona. R

SLAY-o-Ween

Okay, I know, I know. That title.  Totally cheesy. But it’s October 28th and I’m putting together some last minute, easy-to-recreate Halloween looks. I guess a last-minute title fits the bill? I teamed up with my favorite affordable fashion brand, Fashion to Figure, to create a lookbook filled with Halloween goodness to get you ready for this weekend. I know babes are on a budget and let’s face it – some Halloween costumes are CRAZY expensive – so it’s always nice to have a f

Grey Matter

One of the best transitional summer-to-fall colors is grey. Grey gets a bad rap – people are so quick to call it boring, basic and soul-sucking.  I feel quite the opposite. Grey is chic, classic and really can elevate an outfit when used in the right way. Look for grey tones in interesting textures like suede and lace. If you’re an all-black-everything kind of girl (soul sister!) then grey can be a great way to add some dimension to your look while staying in the dark colors

3 items, 6 ways

When you work hard for your money and you finally treat yourself to something fabulous, you want to make sure you can wear it in as many ways as possible. I’m such a big believer in finding at least 3 ways to wear every single item I bring in to my closet – so I teamed up with Gwynnie Bee to show you 2 of the 3 ways to wear these items! I hope this inspires you! And of course – if you want to see these items in live action – head over to my YouTube channel – I’ve got a video

Sexy Things are for You

I know this title is a bit weird, but bear with me.  I think a lot of us misunderstand what sexy things are for. There’s this common thought that wearing sexy things is somehow for someone else.  Let me correct that: sexy things are for YOU. They are for YOU to feel powerful. For YOU to feel beautiful. For YOU to feel feminine, soft, beautiful, womanly. Not for anyone else. I wore this out for date night last week, I have to say, I was feeling myself in this mesh illusion plu

Heat Wave

Summer is right around the corner and I don’t know about you, but I. AM. READY. Bright colors, shorts, pools and frozen drinks are all I can think about these days! I partnered with Gwynnie Bee to bring you guys a 3-look lookbook to inspire you for all of your summer adventures. The looks I put together actually form a perfect day (IMHO) – from your super casual morning poolside hang, to your mid-day lunch (in an ocean inspired tonal look) and finally a bright and colorful di

Maxis in Malibu

I think El Matador Beach in Malibu might actually be the gateway to heaven. As most of you know, the Husband and I decided to get a second residence here in Los Angeles (being out here for work so often and those hotel rates were killing me!) and because of that I’ve completely immersed myself in that beachside life. My normal haunt is Santa Monica. Touristy, yes – but there’s something so electric about the energy of the traveling families, the way the kids laugh in delight

Classically California

From the time I was a child, I knew I belonged in California. Maybe it was the shows (Saved by The Bell, California Dreams) or the music (basically every 80’s song is about being a California Girl, isn’t it?! Thanks, Beach Boys!) – but growing up in the frigid North of Canada, I knew this wasn’t where I would spend my life. And even though I technically call Phoenix home (and I love it) the past year living part time in LA has really solidified the fact that this, near the oc

Purple Reign

If you followed Swim Week last year, you know that I have an undying love for Monif C plus size swimwear. Every year, without a doubt, she brings innovation and design to her styles and this year’s release is no exception. I’m obsessed with this galaxy print – this purple makes me feel like an absolute QUEEN. I’m loving the straps – it really takes it to a new level. I went down to Santa Monica Pier and rocked this swimsuit in the sand, and the compliments flew. I have a feel

Mad for Macy’s

The best part of my job is that I get to share new places and new lines to shop with you all. It’s no secret that Macy’s has a plus department (we all know and love us some INC International Concepts, am I right!), but what you might not know is that they’ve totally updated their plus offerings – to include some downright bomb new collections. My personal favorite of the new offerings is the new Rachel Rachel Roy Curvy Collection. The line is filled with the spring dresses of

Simple Sunday

While I try to bring you the utmost in glam on the blog, I have to admit that just like everyone else, I have dressed down days. I try to keep those days limited to Sunday, when most of my house chores and grocery shopping get done. On Sundays I opt for something comfortable and flowy – but above all – easy to run around in. Maybe even throw on a hat to hide the fact that I have no desire to do anything good to my hair. plus size maxi dress via asos {sold out | similar | sim

Ruffles for the Weekend

Ruffles as a spring trend are nothing short of gorgeous – but can be a bit tricky to pull off. There’s a fine line between looking chic and looking like a cartoon character, which is why I set out to show you three ways to rock this trend in my most recent YouTube plus size fashion lookbook. I wanted to highlight my favorite outfit from that lookbook with a dedicated post, so here we are! I love mixing super feminine pieces with something completely opposite – like this pair

Marbled

Remember last year when marble quietly crept forward and became a super trend? It started with a little Instagram background here and there and morphed into a pattern that everyone loved and put on everything: phone cases, laptop skins, not to mention how sales of marble trays soared (they are the perfect backdrop for beauty pics). I am guilty of marble-overload. I love the print so much – and in as many incarnations and versions as possible. My laptop proudly wears a tradit

Hey Girlfriend

If you’ve been around for a minute, you know my favorite type of jean is a destroyed pair. I will try just about every single pair I can get my hands on – dark, light, baggy, tight – I want them all. Yes, I know. It’s an addiction. When Torrid told me they were releasing a new pair of Girlfriend fit jeans, I was so excited. They have the worn-in, destroyed feel of a boyfriend jean, but with a skinny jean fit. I got my hands on a pair and (not that I was surprised because we a

REVIEW: Fashion to Figure Plus Size Jeans

The best part of my job is that I get to try tons of products: from lipsticks, to hairspray, to dresses and the dreaded jeans. Jeans shopping is notoriously challenging for women (all women, not just us curvy babes) so when I get a chance to try out a bunch of different denim, I get a bit excited. When I find a pair that work for me, I want to shout it from the rooftops to you guys. Today I put 3 pairs to the test – all from Fashion to Figure, and all affordable. Pair 01: The

Revival

I’m going to age myself here. When I was 13, I owned this outfit. And wore it proudly like the little rebel I was. Kurt Cobain and Nirvana was a thing and Green Day’s ‘When I Come Around’ is all anyone ever sang. While I looked the part of a hardcore teenage Nirvana fan, I secretly and obsessively listened to New Kids on the Block every night. It was this crazy, weird, double life that I led : cool at school with the alternative kids, but a secret bubblegum fangirl at night.

Fancy in San Francisco

I grew up listening to Tony Bennett. Hearing him croon ‘I left my Heart in San Francisco’ over and over again is probably the reason that I have such an obsession with the city. I absolutely have left my heart in San Fran and will take any chance to go visit it. What made this trip especially wonderful was the company. When the team at Catherine’s reached out to me to meet them up in the Bay for a day of sightseeing and photos, I couldn’t say no. Add in the fact that the shoo
